Strategy and Communications sits at the centre of the organisation, bringing together several teams with organisation-wide remits and mutual collaboration opportunities. The work of the directorate’s teams includes delivery of major events, designing and leading public affairs or marketing campaigns, providing data, evidence and analysis, leading cross-organisational programmes, to making sure we plan for and can respond to emerging events or emergencies in our city.
We’re looking for a senior marketer to lead our team of campaign experts and deliver campaigns that help build a better London for everyone. We’re looking for an experienced senior marketer to lead our team at City Hall, ensuring all Londoners are aware of the work of the Mayor of London and London Assembly. The Marketing Campaigns team leads integrated campaigns and communications interventions that help make London greener, safer, fairer and support London’s growth.
In this role, you’ll be leading a team of passionate communications experts to design and deliver campaigns that tackle priority issues for Londoners such as public safety, accessible housing, violence against women and girls, rough sleeping, equality, diversity and social integration, and economic prosperity. This is an exciting time to join the team and oversee the development and delivery of all integrated marketing campaigns and a team of campaign managers. This role will ensure the successful delivery and implementation of campaigns for Londoners to support young people with positive opportunities, tackle public safety issues including violence against women and girls, show delivery on housing and rough sleeping, support flagship events such as London’s NYE fireworks and brand campaigns that celebrate London’s values and diversity such as ‘You are Loved & Wanted’.
You will work collaboratively with various policy teams throughout the building, in addition to senior stakeholders in the Mayor’s Office including Mayoral Directors, to gain cross organisational buy in to marketing plans.
What your day will look like:
- Leading a team of dedicated campaign managers and marketing experts to drive forwards the 26-27 annual marketing plan.
- Representing marketing across the Greater London Authority and providing communications expertise to a variety of stakeholders.
- Working closely with the rest of External Relations, including the Press, Digital Communications and Strategic Communications teams, to develop and deliver integrated campaigns.
- Working with stakeholders across the Greater London Authority and our partners, including policy teams, the Mayor’s Office, Transport for London, to ensure our efforts are built on robust insight, reflect the needs of Londoners, and coordinated with key partners.
- Directing multiple relationships with external creative, research and media buying agencies, to ensure we get the most value and impact for Londoners.
Skills, knowledge and experience:
- Significant experience of leading the planning and delivery of campaigns for complex organisations, including managing the implementation and the budget aligned with it.
- Strong track record of delivering social marketing initiatives and policy/issue-based campaigns, behaviour change campaigns and building marketing propositions for complex initiatives.
- Extensive experience of working with external partners and agencies, including pro‑bono partnerships to drive further values and drive greater impact.
- Significant in‑depth knowledge and experience of working in a complex political, high‑profile organisation at a senior level to manage or supervise the delivery of complex cross‑organisational projects.
- Senior management experience and a strong track record of leading multi‑disciplinary teams providing professional, strategic advice on marketing and communications campaigns.
Benefits:
In addition to a good salary package, you will be paid every four weeks, providing frequent salary payments. We also offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme. GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
