The Opportunity:

Are you our next Security Team Manager. We are looking for someone who can help us redefine what's possible for are our Security Operations team.

What's the role?

Reporting into a Security Operations Manager, the Security Team Manager role is responsible for effective leadership of a team of Airport Security Officers across the airport campus, to drive performance and customer service, through motivating, coaching and developing, and to deliver high levels of compliance and service as determined in the UK National Aviation Security Programme (NASP).

In this varied and interesting role, you will work collaboratively across the operation engaging with teams and stakeholders to maximise productivity through the leadership of people, process and systems that support the delivery of a compliant, efficient and effective service delivery operation at London Gatwick.

What you'll be doing?
● Be expected to communicate and deliver clear goals, objectives and expectations for the team, managing their performance using strong team leadership skills.
● Be accountable for a team of direct (18+) and indirect (30+) operational security colleagues. Lead the team to deliver customer service, performance and compliance standards, through real time coaching, feedback and a clear understanding of the technical and behavioural performance standards required.
● Ensure timely and effective communication across a variety of stakeholders, being able to provide technical and operational expertise, support and knowledge.
● Involve the team in problem solving and innovation work to improve both the customer and the employee experience.
● Create and maintain a sense of team, both as a representative of the Security Business Unit and as a member of the wider London Gatwick workforce.
● Proactively and sensitively recognise and act when team members or team dynamics are changing.
● Provide an escalation and resolution route for any customer and stakeholder related issues in real time.
● Ensure the effective deployment of colleagues on duty across all airport posts and resource according to operational requirements based on the presentation of customers and stakeholders, whilst ensuring the team are fully compliant with regulated training.
● Respond, control and contain security incidents and issues that affects both London Gatwick and its stakeholders (e.g., Retailers, Ground Handling Agents and Airlines) in a timely manner, escalating where required.
● Maintain a strong and open security culture throughout London Gatwick through positive relationships with all stakeholders, completing compliance audits and identifying opportunities for improvement, ensuring responsibilities are understood and aiding timely and appropriate rectification, providing support where required.

Do you have what we're looking for?
● Proven experience in driving performance of teams in a high demand and fast paced regulated environment.
● Good interpersonal skills with sound knowledge and understanding of working and engaging with Trade Unions whilst maintaining strong working relationships.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate changing plans and processes into working instructions for your team.
● Able to handle multiple issues and instructions at once and remain calm under this pressure in any situation.
● Organised with administrative tasks and report writing to include personal action plans for team members, incident reports and disciplinary notes.
● Ability to manage and organise teams into a large-scale operation, ensuring all posts are manned to optimum resource levels.
● Able to demonstrate excellent customer service in all situations however challenging.
● Ability to lead and develop teams, and individuals, to support their improvement, growth and drive internal talent progression.
● Able to prioritise workloads and understand where delegation can be used versus where presence is required.
● Balance the needs of the business with those of the customer, while maintaining the morale of the workforce.
● Good written, verbal and IT communication skills are essential.
● Experience of leading a team is beneficial with good interpersonal skills essential.

Please note this role will involve shifts

You will be required to successfully complete and pass the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Ground Security Operative (GSO), Ground Security Supervisor (GSS) and Digital National X-Ray Competence Test (DNXCT) initial training qualification and maintain competency at the required intervals stipulated by the regulator.

You will also need to obtain a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC).
