London Fire Solutions is looking for a practical and reliable person to help look after our premises in Gillingham, while also taking responsibility for driving and looking after our exhibition bus.
This is a varied role and would suit someone who enjoys being hands-on and taking responsibility for making sure things are looked after properly.
The majority of the role will be based at our Gillingham premises, with driving required for exhibitions, client visits and events, as well as occasionally helping with van movements and deliveries.
- Site & Caretaking
- General day-to-day caretaking of the premises
- Emptying bins and keeping communal and external areas clean and tidy
- Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance
- Identifying maintenance issues and either dealing with them or reporting them
- Meeting and assisting contractors when required
- Helping with deliveries and general site requirements
- Making sure the building is secure at the end of the working day
- Locking up the premises and carrying out final checks
- Generally keeping an eye on the site and dealing with things that need attention
- Exhibition Bus
- Driving the LFS exhibition bus to exhibitions, client visits, training days and events
- Taking responsibility for the general condition and upkeep of the bus
- Carrying out regular vehicle checks
- Arranging or coordinating servicing, MOTs, repairs and maintenance
- Keeping the bus clean and presentable
- Making sure it is ready for events
- Helping with setting up and packing away at exhibitions and events
- Vehicles & Deliveries
- Assisting with LFS van movements when required
- Helping with van deliveries and collections
- Taking vehicles for servicing, MOTs or repairs where needed
- Providing general support to the fleet team, This is a permanent position offering a varied role for someone who wants the stability of working mainly from one location while still making use of their Class 2 licence.
A full Category C (Class 2) driving licence is essential.
We're not looking for someone who wants to spend five days a week driving an HGV.
This is predominantly a site-based role with driving as an important additional responsibility.
It could particularly suit an experienced Class 2 driver who wants to move away from full-time driving into something more varied.
We're looking for someone who is

Previous experience in caretaking, facilities, maintenance, construction or driving would be useful, but finding the right person with the right attitude is more important.
There will occasionally be early starts, later finishes and overnight stays when the exhibition bus is attending events.
These will be planned in advance wherever possible.
