Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join our team.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the preparation of accurate cost estimates for projects, ensuring that all aspects of the project are accounted for.
This position requires a strong understanding of cost control and the ability to analyse project specifications to provide reliable estimates that align with our company’s goals.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for various projects based on specifications and drawings.
- Conduct thorough analysis of project requirements to identify potential risks and opportunities for cost savings.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and labour costs to ensure competitive pricing.
- Review and assess subcontractor quotes and proposals to ensure alignment with project budgets.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of past project costs for reference in future estimations.
- Assist in the preparation of bid documents and proposals, ensuring compliance with client requirements.
- Monitor ongoing projects for adherence to estimated costs and provide recommendations for cost control measures.
- Communicate with suppliers in order to establish the best prices available.
- Strong communication and team working skills to enable quick decisions to be made within the Design team.
Experience
- 2+ years proven experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within the construction or engineering industry is preferred.
- 1+ years proven experience within electrical, fire or security
- Strong understanding of cost control principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using estimation software and tools is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
