The London Fire Brigade Property team are at the technical forefront of the property delivery team, supporting on all projects from RIBA stage 0 through to completion and handover. Given that LFB is an emergency service, their portfolio of properties is in use 24/7, 365 days of the year. LFB's fire-stations range in age and status, as some are very new and others hold Listed Building status, offering a wide range of properties to work on. It is a truly unique organisation to work for within a property with some members of the team having served over 20 years, demonstrating not only the growth opportunities but the stable and enjoyable environment that is London Fire Brigade.
This role involves managing the delivery of all planned building works for the LFB estate through the supply chain. Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing daily building work requests
- Ensuring technical and financial approvals
- Providing initial client briefs to FM suppliers
- Monitoring project work to meet LFB standards
- Ensuring health and safety compliance
- Maintaining accurate records
- Engaging with stakeholders to develop improvement projects
- Managing the decorations programme
- Providing management support and compliance reviews
- Financial management, including budget oversight and expenditure reporting
The position demands adherence to equality and health and safety policies, delivering customer-focused services, and ensuring staff development and training.
This role requires a relevant degree and postgraduate qualification in a construction-related discipline, or extensive senior-level experience. The candidate should have experience managing building maintenance works and property projects, preparing specifications and schedules, and supervising construction works under JCT or ACE contracts. They should also have experience as a Contract Administrator or Client’s Representative, leading and developing staff, using IT applications, and handling financial procedures.
Key skills include effective oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, analytical and organisational abilities, and maintaining high levels of customer care. The candidate should have knowledge of equalities issues, planning and building regulations, health and safety practices, and contractual procedures.
You will receive a salary of £54,332 - £70,549 plus a generous package of:
