London Film Academy (LFA) is renowned worldwide for its excellence in film education. We are seeking an experienced People Operations Generalist to serve as the standalone HR point of contact for all LFA employees and tutors. This role will oversee the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding, through performance management to off‑boarding, while ensuring HR compliance and fostering a positive, high‑performing workplace culture. The purpose of this role is to be responsible for all HR‑related activities at London Film Academy. The People Operations Generalist is responsible for introducing and implementing current and future HR policies and procedures. This role is an important ambassador for the LFA, both internally and externally. The post holder will support the Head of Operations in the development of the People Strategy at LFA.

Key Accountabilities

  • Full lifecycle of staff and tutors (recruitment, onboarding, employee development, reviews, and off‑boarding coordination)
  • Staff engagement and Employee Relations (ER)
  • HR‑related data capture and processing
  • HR best practice and compliance

Recruiting and administration of ATS, working closely with other departments and teams to oversee the recruitment of all employees, including the drafting of job descriptions, preparing advertisements, shortlisting candidates, interviewing and interview coordination. Prepare and issue employment contracts and the Staff Handbook. Onboard and collaborate with all other departments to oversee the induction and onboarding process of all new employees – from their pre‑induction to the key milestones, i.e. first day, check‑ins throughout the first 6 months. Coordinating and facilitating the active use of the Performance Managing software (Teamflect) for all objectives setting, business as usual (BAU) and values‑based reviews. Planning and scheduling staff training by dovetailing with the Talent Development processes. Supporting and processing personal development for employees. Providing company‑wide benchmarking salary data for annual pay reviews and presenting it to the Senior Managers. Supporting the administration of the annual pay review process. Oversee the off‑boarding of an employee in the event of leaving LFA. Oversee tutor lifecycle, taking into account their freelance status.

Staff Engagement and Employee Relations (ER)

  • Following the policies and procedures in the Staff Handbook, proactively oversee the fair handling of ER issues
  • Working closely with line managers, assisting in understanding and implementing policies and procedures
  • Arranging LFA social events, celebrations and milestones
  • Leading internal HR communications
  • Managing the LFA HR inbox
  • Monitors the Complaints, Appeals and Safeguarding inbox
  • Management of the team engagement platform (LFA Staff Hub)

HR‑related data capture and processing

  • Administration of Application Tracking System (ATS)
  • Reporting payroll and ensuring all new and existing employees have the correct pay and benefits
  • Ensuring all confidential HR‑related documentation is securely and accurately filed on SharePoint and BrightHR (HRIS)
  • Overseeing the accuracy of BrightHR data and information
  • Managing and overseeing the accurate recording of absence, holiday requests, sick leave and all other forms of absence

HR Best Practice and Compliance

  • Reviewing and recommending benefits to Senior Managers and Joint Principals
  • Monitors diversity, checking references and other necessary background checks (including DBS) during recruitment
  • Oversee the accuracy of the Staff Handbook, including updating policies and processes in line with changes to employment law legislation
  • Communicating Staff Handbook updates on the shared platform
  • Cross‑referencing with the Finance Manager for the HR budget, expenses and payroll
  • Conducting HR and people processes audits

Essential Skills

  • Relevant HR generalist experience
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified or equivalent experience
  • Used to working in a busy and constantly changing environment

Role Details

  • Hours of work: full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Hybrid style of working, with at least 3 days a week on site at 52a Walham Grove, London SW6 1QR
  • Salary: ÂŁ35k‑£45k per annum
