Role and Responsibilities
The Assistant Parts Manager will be responsible for supporting the Genuine Parts Manager in the daily control of the parts operation. Responsibilities include:
- Assist and oversee procurement and supply chain issues, manage stock levels, optimise inventory using sales/demand data, and ensure continuous spare parts supply including end-of-production life planning.
- Own relationships with the 3PL partner; manage customer service inbox and process related orders.
- Liaise with internal teams, procurement, and key stakeholders to remove bottlenecks, resolve urgent VOR issues, and support colleagues with supply chain queries.
- Ensure timely, accurate delivery of spare parts, address complaints, and work with the Parts Manager to improve customer satisfaction.
- Produce regular reports on spare parts performance and trends for management.
- Manage service schedules, plan builds with the team, maintain stock levels, and update the service bill of materials (S-BOM).
Experience and Qualifications
- Automotive Parts Expertise – Experience in automotive spare parts with knowledge of components, demand drivers, and industry processes.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive spare parts management, preferably within a dealer group or OEM.
- Supply Chain & Logistics Knowledge – Understanding of material handling, transportation, inventory management; beneficial knowledge of import/export processes.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to use data to identify issues, forecast demand, and drive solutions.
- Communication & Collaboration – Strong customer service skills with the ability to work independently or in a team and engage effectively with stakeholders.
- KPIs and Performance – Experience tracking KPIs such as daily sales performance, stock availability, and back orders.
- Technical & IT Proficiency – Technical qualification preferred; solid understanding of vehicle systems; proficiency with inventory systems and Microsoft Office.
