Role Overview

Gainsborough is a one-form entry primary school located in the heart of Hackney Wick, with a Children’s Centre, thriving Preschool and an Additional Resourced Provision Setting (ARP) for SEMH needs. Our school is a co‑operative learning community where all achievements are celebrated and valued. We are one of seven schools within the Primary Advantage Federation. The Federation has allowed us to grow as a school but still maintain our distinct and unique identity. Our Local Advisory Board (LAB) ensures that Gainsborough makes decisions that are best for the school and its community.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Lead a vibrant and inclusive one‑form entry primary school with a Nursery, Preschool and Children’s Centre, serving children from nine months to eleven years old.
  • Work alongside a dedicated and committed staff team, enthusiastic pupils and a supportive governing body.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Principal, benefiting from strategic support and shared expertise, and build on the school's successes and shape its next stage of development.
  • Secure high standards and improve outcomes for all pupils through inclusive practice, safeguarding, wellbeing, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with staff, families, governors and the wider community, being an effective communicator and collaborator.

  • Successful senior leadership experience with a proven ability to secure high standards and improve outcomes for all pupils.
  • Values‑driven and inspirational leadership, committed to inclusive practice, championing safeguarding and wellbeing.
  • Vision, resilience, and the ability to lead the continued development of the school.
  • Effective communicator who builds strong relationships and works collaboratively with the Executive Principal.
