TV Edwards LLP seeks a solicitor with at least one year of post-qualification experience to represent clients across a range of criminal matters. The successful candidate will attend, advise, and represent clients at police stations and magistrates’ courts, with an element of out-of-hour work. Experience in preparing cases for trial in the Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court is essential. The role will be based at our Whitechapel office and will commence subject to a six-month probation period.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out all allotted casework promptly and efficiently.
- Analyse legal matters and advise clients on the appropriate course of action.
- Communicate clearly and regularly with clients and comply with client‑care requirements.
- Deal with routine correspondence, negotiations and advocacy where appropriate.
- Record time spent on casework accurately and ensure cases are billed and payment recorded promptly.
- Ensure that, where any work is funded by the Legal Aid Agency, requirements are met.
- Keep up-to-date with general legal developments, particularly relating to own specialist field(s).
- Undertake appropriate administrative tasks in accordance with the Office Manual to support smooth functioning of the department.
- Provide supervision where appropriate and/or report to supervisors when required.

- Experience of Legal Aid funding and use of the Legal Aid Portal.
