The role involves supporting the design, building, and deployment of robust, scalable software across backend and related technologies, working closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver a dynamic new system that meets evolving business needs. You’ll provide technical leadership and guidance to junior developers through extensive experience in high‑quality software development, contributing to architectural decisions and ensuring best practices are upheld across the development lifecycle.
You’ll champion code quality through clean coding standards, design patterns, code reviews, and the implementation of automated testing, helping us maintain a reliable and maintainable codebase. You will take an active role in project planning, task estimation, and progress tracking, ensuring delivery remains aligned with project goals. You’ll also tackle complex technical challenges, analysing and resolving issues effectively and efficiently. Clear, thorough documentation of designs, processes, and APIs will be an essential part of your contribution, ensuring clarity and consistency across the system.
The technical environment spans a range of modern and established technologies, including .NET 8, C#, MVC, Web Services, Function Apps, and Azure. On the data side, we use SQL Server, Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos, Azure Storage, and Message Queues.
About you: We’re looking for an experienced software engineer with at least 5 years of experience, a strong foundation in modern software development practices, excellent knowledge of Agile development methodologies, and hands‑on experience with unit testing and mocking. You’ll have strong technical expertise in C#, .NET, MVC and Azure Functions/App Services, and be a strong analytical thinker with good judgement and the ability to make sound decisions. You should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of attention to detail, working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Experience with Azure cloud services, its associated practices, and tooling is essential, along with ample knowledge of Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with SQL, Cosmos DB, APIs or microservices and familiarity with front‑end technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS/SASS etc) would be highly advantageous. Mentoring experience coupled with your technical knowledge is also desirable.
