Trainee Mortgage Adviser - Newcastle ÂŁ25,000 with great opportunities to earn bonuses. Office based whilst working to achieve competency in role, hybrid/remote working available after.

Fun, rewarding and with the opportunity to develop and grow your career. That’s life with L&C Mortgages, the UK’s leading fee free mortgage and protection broker with over 160 awards to its name. Join us and you’ll be part of a business that takes your progress seriously and wants you to enjoy being part of the L&C family. From ‘The Extra Mile’ colleague nominations – recognising those who go above and beyond, your birthday off and our fabulous Perkbox membership, this is a place that really gives back on the effort you put in.

We’re expanding our Newcastle office and again taking on new Trainee Mortgage Advisers. With a start date of the 18th August 2025, we’ll coach and teach everything you need to know from scratch, to flourish as a fully fledged adviser within the industry, supporting your growth and development from day one.

The Role: Mortgaging or remortgaging a property can be a daunting experience for first-time and experienced buyers alike, and getting the right deal is a crucial factor in putting buyers’ and homeowners’ minds at ease. You’ll scope out the best mortgage options through listening to customers’ stories and circumstances, fully documenting these and coming up with a solution that both meets their needs and satisfies regulatory rules and standards as you go.

We’ll arm you with all the info you need to help make the best decisions for our customers. You’ll need to be clear and demonstrate L&C values, our passion for mortgages and why our customers were right to choose us. Of course, there will be administrative work along the way but, above all, it’s about building that rapport and a real sense of trust that you’re going to do everything you can to deliver a compliant deal that really works for the customer.

FCA Certification Regime & Conduct Rules: L&C is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and is classified as an “Enhanced Firm” under the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR). This role will fall into the “Certification and Conduct” elements of the regime. L&C will be required to attest to your integrity, competence, and financial soundness on an initial and regular basis if you’re successful in your application and as a “Certification Regime” employee, your personal and professional details will be published in the FCA’s Directory which is accessible to the public.

About You: Your background employment within customer service has already helped you to hone your listening skills and develop a sense of empathy that customers can really sense when they talk to you. You may have some sales and product delivery skills already, with experience. You’re going to need serious organising and prioritising skills to max-out on productivity and results without compromising on quality of care. Not to mention solid IT skills and a team-focused approach that allows you to pick up a colleague’s case when they’re unable to take a call so that they can do the same for you when needed. Finally, you’re going to need bags of confidence, because there are going to be decisions to make as to which offers you put in front of customers.

Why join L&C? We care about our customers, but our employees are what make the magic happen. We’re always ready to listen and do what we can to make L&C even better for those receiving and providing our services. Working with us means being part of an environment of respect and equity. The standard of training is as high as it can be, so that the service you’re able to deliver is at the same level. What you do with it and where you take your role from there is up to you – because there are ample opportunities to flourish and progress.

Joining L&C means having the chance to:

  • Enrol on an in-depth induction programme with a proven track record of success
  • Opportunity to gain a CeMap, LIBF qualification upon passing the exam and be supported to become a certified mortgage expert
  • Having a starting holiday entitlement of 24 days which increases with time served
  • Having a day off on your birthday and if you move house
  • Comprehensive benefits and employee support programmes
  • The chance to celebrate at our biannual Winter and Summer socials, and plenty of other events amongst your team and section
