We’re once again expanding and looking for CeMap or equivalent Qualified Mortgage Advisers to jump in with 1st Charge advising and providing top service to our customers, all from the comfort of their own home. With a start date of the 18th August 2025, if you’re looking for a fresh start and new challenge, with bountiful warm leads and sources, this could be the job for you.

The Role: You’ll know firsthand how mortgaging or remortgaging a property can be a daunting experience for first-time and experienced buyers alike. Getting the right deal is a crucial factor in putting home buyers’ and homeowners’ minds at ease. Luckily for them, that’s exactly where you come in. From starter homes to investment properties, you’ll be there on the end of the phone with the kind of advice that makes property dreams come true.

You’ll scope out the best mortgage options through listening to customers’ stories and circumstances, fully documenting these with the help of L&C’s technology and coming up with a solution that meets their needs and satisfies regulatory rules and standards as you go. We expect a quality and compliant service for our customers and this performance will be monitored.

Will they be best served by a fixed-term or variable mortgage? Do they need the option to overpay each month? What about fee free early exit? Once you have a clear idea of what they need, it’s all about rolling up your sleeves and giving it your all so that we can provide the customer with the right advice and outcome, getting them the best possible deal. By doing all this, you’ll demonstrate L&C values, our passion for mortgages and why our customers were right to choose us.

Of course there will be administrative work along the way but, above all, it’s about building that rapport and a real sense of trust that you’re going to do everything you can to deliver a compliant deal that really works for the customer.

FCA Certification Regime & Conduct Rules: L&C is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and is classified as an “Enhanced Firm” under the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR). This role will fall into the “Certification and Conduct” elements of the regime. L&C will be required to attest to your integrity, competence and financial soundness on an initial and regular basis if you’re successful in your application and as a “Certification Regime” employee, your personal and professional details will be published in the FCA’s Directory which is accessible to the public. This can provide comfort to customers that they are dealing with a legitimate and monitored Adviser that belongs to a firm with a solid culture and ethics. You’ll also be personally subject to the 5 FCA Conduct Rules at all times.

About You: Our customer service standard is paramount, and as an experienced and qualified Mortgage Advisor you’ll need to apply your industry knowledge and output a sense of empathy that customers can really pick up when they talk to you. You’ll have had good experience within the market to help clients reach their housing goals, with a proven record of achieving sales targets and performance standards. Now you’re looking to accelerate your potential working for a market leader who can help you achieve your personal and professional goals.

We’re looking for people who can really connect with customers and provide top standard advice, while following the FCA guidelines and internal procedures that keep us in line with our industry’s regulatory framework. After all, that feeling that everything is in hand and that all relevant documentation and jargon is taken care of, is why our customers choose us. That’s why you’ll be an active listener who acknowledges and repeats what you’re hearing so that each customer knows they’ve been understood. You’ll lay out all the options they need quickly and simply so that they can make informed decisions that best suit their needs.

Why join L&C? We care about our customers, but our employees are what make the magic happen.
