Hybrid, UK - widely remote, with travel to Bath/London once per month. Part-Time (3 Days Per Week). L&C Mortgages is looking for an experienced Commercial Lawyer to provide strategic legal support across a dynamic, growing business. Reporting to the General Counsel/CPO, you'll play a key role in supporting commercial growth, managing legal risk, and advising senior leaders on high-profile transactions and business initiatives.

What you'll be doing:

  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on complex commercial contracts
  • Supporting mergers, acquisitions, investments and strategic partnerships
  • Leading legal due diligence and managing transaction risk
  • Advising senior leadership on business strategy and governance
  • Supporting new products, commercial initiatives and transformation projects
  • Managing legal and regulatory risk within a fast-paced business environment
  • Working with external legal advisers and key stakeholders across the organisation

About You:

You'll be a qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with significant post-qualification experience and a strong background in:

  • Commercial contracts
  • M&A and corporate transactions
  • Advising executive teams and senior stakeholders
  • UK commercial law and risk management
  • Delivering pragmatic, commercially-focused legal solutions

Desirable Experience:

  • Financial services or FCA-regulated environments
  • Technology, digital transformation or SaaS-related projects
  • Private equity-backed businesses
  • Data protection and GDPR

FCA Certification Regime & Conduct Rules:

This role is subject to the 6 FCA Conduct rules and you will be expected to adhere to them at all times. Any confirmed breaches of the Conduct Rules will be reported to the FCA annually.
