Volunteer Non-Executive Directors (Legal and Technology)

Location: Remote with one in person strategy meeting per year at a location on Central / West London.

About Us: London Community Bank, previously known as Hillingdon Credit Union, serves over 3000 members who live or work in the London Boroughs of Hillingdon, Harrow, Ealing, Brent, Hounslow, Hammersmith, Richmond, Kingston, Wandsworth, Merton, as well as Slough and South Bucks. We offer a range of financial services, including savings accounts, loans, and financial education, promoting financial well-being and inclusion within our community.

Role Overview: We are seeking two dedicated and experienced individuals to join our Board as Volunteer Non-Executive Directors (NEDs), specializing in Legal and Technology . As a NED, you will play a crucial role in providing strategic guidance, governance, and oversight to ensure the bank’s continued success and adherence to its mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal NED:

  • Provide expert legal advice to the Board, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and legislation.
  • Review and advise on legal documents, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor changes in legislation that may impact the credit union and advise accordingly.

Technology NED:

  • Offer strategic guidance on the credit union’s technology initiatives and digital transformation efforts.
  • Assess and advise on IT infrastructure, cybersecurity measures, and data protection.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and recommend their potential application to enhance services.

General Responsibilities:

  • Attend and contribute to Board meetings, providing independent judgment on issues of strategy, performance, and resources.
  • Ensure that the credit union’s operations align with its mission and values.
  • Act as an ambassador for the credit union, promoting its services and values within the community.
