Role Summary

The Admissions Interviewer plays a vital role within the Recruitment and Admissions team, supporting the effective management of the student admissions process while contributing to the College's wider engagement and retention strategy. LCCA is committed to ensuring that applicants not only meet the academic entry requirements and demonstrate the necessary literacy and numeracy skills, but also possess the aptitude, enthusiasm, and commitment required to succeed in their chosen programme of study. Through the admissions interview process, the Admissions Interviewer will assess applicants' suitability for their selected course, evaluating their motivation, readiness to learn, and ability to engage fully with the academic experience. In addition to conducting academic interviews, the role provides essential administrative support and guidance to students and academic staff across a range of areas, including enrolment, timetabling, examinations, student compliance, attendance monitoring, and student engagement activities. Working under the direction of the Admissions Manager, the Admissions Interviewer will ensure that admissions activities are delivered in accordance with institutional policies and procedures while maintaining a high standard of customer service and professionalism. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong administrative capabilities, and the confidence to engage effectively with a diverse student population. They will demonstrate resilience, adaptability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to achieving objectives in a fast-paced environment. A genuine commitment to supporting student success, engagement, and retention is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate applicants' academic preparedness, motivation, aptitude, and potential to succeed within their chosen programme of study.
  • Review application materials, including academic qualifications, employment history, personal statements, portfolios, and supporting documentation.
  • Assess applicants against published entry requirements while considering individual circumstances and diverse educational pathways.
  • Utilise professional judgement to identify applicants who demonstrate the potential to benefit from higher education and successfully complete their studies.
  • Ensure admissions recommendations are evidence-based, consistent, and aligned with institutional policies and academic standards.
  • Complete detailed interview records, recommendations, and admissions evaluations within agreed service levels.
  • Conduct fair, transparent, and inclusive admissions assessments that uphold academic standards while promoting equality of opportunity, widening participation, and compliance with UK Higher Education regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with UK Higher Education regulatory requirements, including OfS expectations, Equality Act 2010, GDPR, and safeguarding obligations, while maintaining accurate admissions records and supporting institutional Access and Participation commitments.
  • Maintain accurate admissions interview data and documentation using student record systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Generate reports to support decision-making, process improvements, applicant experience enhancement, and institutional recruitment goals.
  • Provide accurate information and guidance to prospective students on admissions requirements Delivering an excellent applicant experience and referring individuals to appropriate academic, wellbeing, disability, financial, or pastoral support services where required.

  • Qualifications Essential: A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification
