Provost role at London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA)

Our academic team consists of modern, progressive, professionals who have what it takes to motivate students from a variety of backgrounds, to inspire belief in students who are striving for professional and personal recognition and to drive students towards successful lives.
You will have a distinct skill set; a ‘can-do’ attitude – and should demonstrate the consistent ability to put the core elements of our learning and teaching philosophy into practice, both in the strategic implementation of experiential teaching activities and in the management of high-class teaching delivery.
The underpinning philosophy of LCCA is as follows:
- Through experiential teaching we aim to provide students with a ‘real-life’ skill set which is transferable out of the classroom and into the world of work.

Role Responsibilities
- To ensure that LCCA has a sufficiently attractive and distinctive academic portfolio to meet its growing recruitment targets.
- To ensure institutional quality and continuous improvement of all courses at LCCA in line with both internal and external regulations.
- To design, develop and implement an innovative learning and teaching approach that best facilitates delivery of this portfolio.
- To lead the academic teams and ensure a highly effective academic structure.
- To lead and develop a culture of challenge using appropriate tools, governance, committees and structures.
- To lead the registration of the College in preparation for OFS and in preparation for future degree awarding powers.
- To develop a range of institutional partnerships and alliances that enhance the academic reputation of LCCA, strengthen our finances and align with our mission and values.
- To drive the development of innovative practice in learning, teaching and assessment which caters to the needs and expectations of widening participation students.
- To ensure the teaching faculty at LCCA have the right mix of skills, knowledge, experience and qualities to design and deliver the creative suite of programmes.
- To ensure consistent, high performance across all academic staff, in line with the College’s performance management strategy.
- To develop a coaching culture, and to support people development and succession planning.
- To exhibit a strong, personal commitment to the College’s and group’s mission and values and to act as a brand ambassador, behaving at all times in a manner that embodies and promotes these values.
- To lead and ensure delivery of a Retention Strategy that enables achievement of the University’s retention, progression and completion targets.
- To lead and develop the NSS Improvement Strategy to ensure that all courses achieve the University’s overall satisfaction target.
- To contribute, as a member of the Senior Management Team, to the overall achievement of the College’s Strategic Plan.
- To provide active support to the Managing Director in maintaining and raising the profile of the College and its mission.
- To establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the executive, the College Group Executive, and other relevant stakeholders.
- To implement the College’s Equal Opportunities Policy and promote equality of opportunity in relation to the duties of the post.
- To deputise for the Managing Director, at such time as he is absent from the campus.
- To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be requested appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of the post.
RequirementsTraining & Education
- PhD or Doctorate in education, business administration, or a related discipline (or equivalent)
- Holding fellowship of Advance HE or higher
- Demonstrated membership and engagement with a relevant professional body (e.g. CMI, CABS etc)
- Holding Senior (SFHEA) or Principal (PFHEA) fellowship of Advance HE (formerly known as HEA)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong leadership skills and experience in motivating, empowering, and inspiring teams to achieve common goals.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the college\’s overall mission, vision, and values.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve complex issues related to academic programs, teaching and learning, and student development.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.
- Comprehensive understanding of external regulatory bodies such as the Office for Students (OfS), OIA, HESA (Jisc), etc.

Experience
- Extensive experience in higher education administration and leadership, with a proven track record of managing and overseeing academic programmes, departments, and personnel.
- Demonstrated track record in achieving high B3 metrics and NSS results for an HEI.
- Experience in leading and delivering strategic and operational change.
- Strong understanding of the Higher Education landscape in the UK, including comprehensive knowledge of relevant policies, regulations and compliance standards.
- Hands-on experience of emerging technical and digital innovation (e.g. AI).
