Role Purpose:
The Head of Marketing is responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive marketing strategy that enhances the football club's brand, grows and engages its fanbase, drives commercial revenue, and supports the club's sporting and community objectives. This role combines strategic leadership with handsâon execution across digital, matchday, content, partnerships, and global fan engagement.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fastâpaced environment and is keen to help shape how our club is seen and remembered. This is a new position within the business, so the responsibilities are not set in stone. We need someone who can jump in, get things done, and work with the senior leadership team to shape the future of the club.
Marketing & Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement an integrated marketing strategy aligned with the club's vision, commercial targets, and football performance.
- Lead brand positioning and ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and markets.
- Manage the marketing budget, ensuring strong ROI and effective resource allocation.
- Work closely with senior leadership to support longâterm fan growth, international expansion, and commercial return.
Fan Engagement & Growth:
- Drive fan acquisition, retention, and loyalty across domestic and international audiences.
- Oversee fan insight, segmentation, and personalised CRM strategies to improve engagement and conversion.
- Lead digital marketing strategy across social media, website, app, email, and emerging platforms.
- Use data and analytics to optimise performance, reach, and engagement, as well as conversions.
- Enhance matchday experience through marketing activations, campaigns, and supporter communications.
- Build and strengthen community relationships with schools, grassroots football clubs and other local community groups.
Commercial & Partnerships Support:
- Support sponsorship and partnership activation in collaboration with the commercial team.
- Develop marketingâled propositions that increase sponsor value and visibility.
- Drive ticketing, hospitality, membership and merchandise sales through targeted campaigns.
- Collaborate with retail team to maximise revenue opportunities.
Brand & Campaigns:
- Oversee brand identity, creative standards, and campaign execution.
- Support PR, communications, and crisis management alongside media teams.
- Plan and deliver major campaigns including kit launches, ticketing campaigns and partnership activations.
- Manage external agencies and creative partners.
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the marketing team, fostering creativity, accountability, and high performance.
- Build a collaborative culture across football, operations, media, commercial, and community departments.
- Set clear objectives, KPIs, and development plans for team members.
Club Accountabilities:
- To comply with all Club policies, procedures and practices and carry out your role diligently and in the best interests of the Club.
- To lead with a proactive, high-performance mindset and actively contribute to a winning culture on and off the pitch.

Qualifications and Training:
- Degree level or equivalent in relevant subject.
- CIM or other related professional qualification.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Proven senior marketing leadership experience, preferably in sport, entertainment, or a fanâdriven brand.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media, and contentâled growth.
- Commercial mindset with a track record of driving revenue and brand growth.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using data to inform decisionâmaking.
- Experience working within professional football or elite sport.
- Knowledge of football governance, league regulations, and safeguarding requirements.
- Experience managing international markets and global fanbases.
- Background in sponsorship activation or brand partnerships.
