To become an Aviation Security Officer at London City Airport, you‘ll be passionate about creating the best experience for all our passengers. Throughout your shift, you’ll be greeting people, patrolling the airport, monitoring secure areas, and generally putting everyone at ease by going above and beyond. You will be playing an important part in making the passenger journey as safe as possible. You’ll also be carrying out searches and safety checks on passengers, colleagues, and the items they bring through the airport.
Yours will be the friendly face that offers our passengers a warm welcome as well as a constant reassuring presence, alert to everything that’s going on around you, ready to spot potential threats and responding rapidly if and when you do using your challenger spirit. Once you’ve completed your training, you’ll know your shifts 12 months in advance, so you can plan around them. Swaps are often possible, providing even greater flexibility, but it’s important that you’re available for all shifts on the pattern attached.
The qualities we look for are more common than you might imagine. You don’t need security experience or an SIA licence. We’ll give you five weeks of full-time training on full pay before you start in your role. What you will need, however, is:
- a warm, engaging personality and positive, friendly approach
- strong attention to detail
- strong senses (vision, touch, smell, hearing) especially when searching persons and/or their belongings
- fluency in written and spoken English – additional languages are a bonus
- the physical fitness to cope with long periods of standing, bending and walking
- full colour vision
You must also be:
- a UK resident of three years standing, with the right to work in the UK
- happy to complete our pre-employment medical, criminal record and counter-terrorism checks
- available to complete full-time training for your first five weeks, even if you’ve chosen to work part-time thereafter
Hours of Work: 20 hours per week on a rotating roster that starts as early as 04:30am and finishes as late as 10:30pm. Includes weekends and public holidays. Flexibility required. Regular Overtime is available if desired. Please see roster pattern attached to this advert - you would need to be able to work all shifts/days within the roster pattern shown.
