The Vacancy
Main Purpose of the Job:
The Building Services Compliance Manager is responsible for management and delivery of effective and efficient technical and technical support training within the Building Services department, ensuring that all areas of the function are operating safely and compliantly and that all obligatory regulatory and organisational requirements are met.
Main Tasks of the Job:

  • Ensure the Engineering and Building Services team are suitably skilled and trained on all technical elements and requirements relevant to role.
  • Maintain central training records, informing supervisor/Line management when refresher training is required.
  • Carry out assessment of contractor\’s competencies, as required and ensure Logbooks are up to date and relevant.
  • Maintain the existing library of departmental risk assessments, proactively support the function to develop additional documentation as per requirement.
  • Ensure that the Building Services team is adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations and codes of practice. Support the Health and Safety team in the completion of investigations relating to occupational safety incidents.
  • Support the delivery of documented departmental procedures and processes Develop a training plan for all staff.
  • Ensure all training material is reviewed annually and is updated as and when necessary.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of departmental functions, identify areas of non-compliance and record them accordingly.
  • Where applicable, provide efficient feedback and/or corrective actions.
  • Report back to management functions on current risk and compliance performance using a Plan, Do, Check, Act approach
  • Facilitate and accommodate both internal and external audits
  • Cover Shift Technician role in times of sickness or holidays if required
  • To undertake any relevant training, as required
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested by the Building Services Management Team

Key Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
  • Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised An enabler with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Training qualification or at least 3 years\’ experience in a training role
  • Experience in working in a complex, regulated and dynamic project environment

Qualifications:
Essential

  • Preferably be an apprenticed trained engineer who has recognised technical qualifications in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering and preferably working towards Incorporated Engineering registration with an approved engineering body.
  • Experience leading departmental technical training and relevant experience in a technical training role in a regulated environment.
  • Delivering presentations/information to a diverse range of stakeholders using a variety of methods.
  • Utilising administration and record keeping systems.
  • Knowledge/experience of Safety Management Systems
  • Ability to develop training materials including presentations, student handouts and lesson plans
  • Computer literate familiar with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to suggest appropriate learning solutions
  • Accomplished teaching and facilitation skills
  • Ability to deliver presentation and information in an engaging way
  • Ability to articulate complex messages in a way that is simple and easy to understand
  • Organised and methodical
  • Ability to work on own initiative

Desirable

  • Health and Safety Qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience in Facilities Management
  • Knowledge/experience of Quality Management Systems
  • Knowledge of airside risks, hazards, control measures and mitigations

Hours of Work:
The role operates on a Monday to Friday basis, 09:00 to 17:30, however some flexibility is required to accommodate training needs of the Building Services team.
