Job Title: Health & Social Care Trainer
Location: Edgware
Reports to: Head of College.

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Health & Social Care Trainer to join our dynamic team at London Cactus College. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, assessing student performance, and supporting learners in their educational and professional development. You will be part of a small but vibrant further education college dedicated to providing an exceptional learning experience for all students in the Health & Social Care sector.
Key Responsibilities-
Teaching & Learning-
· Deliver engaging, effective, and inclusive lessons in Health & Social Care to students at various levels (e.g., Level 1 to Level 3 BTEC, Access courses, Apprenticeships).
· Develop and deliver a range of teaching methods, including lectures, practical demonstrations, and group work.
· Adapt teaching materials and approaches to meet the diverse needs of students and ensure all learners can access the curriculum.
· Use a variety of teaching resources, including technology, to enhance learning experiences.
· Maintain high standards of teaching that align with curriculum requirements and accreditation standards.
Assessment & Feedback-
· Design and mark assignments, projects, exams, and other forms of assessment in a timely manner.
· Provide constructive and timely feedback to students on their work to help them improve and progress.
· Track and monitor student progress, ensuring any concerns are addressed promptly and appropriate interventions are made.
Student Support-
· Offer academic and pastoral support to students, including guidance on coursework, career advice, and professional development.
· Hold regular office hours for one-on-one student consultations.
· Monitor attendance, engagement, and progression, ensuring students are on track to achieve their goals.
Curriculum Development-
· Assist in the development and review of the Health & Social Care curriculum to ensure it is current, relevant, and meets the needs of learners.
· Stay up to date with changes in the Health and Social care sector, including policy and legislation, and incorporate this into teaching.
Quality Assurance & Compliance-
· Participate in internal and external quality assurance processes, including moderation and standardisation of assessments.
· Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory bodies and awarding bodies' requirements (e.g., Ofsted, awarding bodies such as Pearson).
· Contribute to maintaining high levels of achievement, retention, and student satisfaction.
Professional Development-
· Participate in continuous professional development (CPD) to enhance teaching practices and subject knowledge.
· Attend departmental meetings and contribute to the development of departmental strategies and initiatives.
Collaboration & Communication-
· Work effectively with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and ideas for improving student learning experiences.
· Maintain strong relationships with local employers and organisations in the health and social care sector to enhance employability and work placement opportunities for students.
· Liaise with parents/guardians, external stakeholders, and other departments as necessary to support student development and achievement.
Person Specification-
Essential-
· A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Health & Social Care or a closely related field.
· A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, DTLLS, CertEd, or equivalent) or a commitment to achieving one.
· Experience in teaching Health & Social Care at a further education level (or equivalent).
· Knowledge of current issues and trends in the Health & Social Care sector.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
· Ability to motivate and inspire students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
· Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
Desirable-
· Experience working in the health and social care industry.
· Familiarity with BTEC and/or other vocational qualifications in Health & Social Care.
· Knowledge of Ofsted inspection frameworks and how they apply to further education colleges.
· Willingness to engage in research and scholarly activity to support personal and professional growth.
Working Hours-
· Full-time (or part-time, as applicable).
· Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for student support, open days, or other college events.
