The Associate Director, Research and Faculty Office will lead the team of seven Subject Area Managers, build relationships with faculty, and represent the department on the Management Committee. The role is a 10‑month fixed‑term contract focused on delivering excellence in faculty support and cross‑school initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, communicate and execute strategic plans for the department.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including Faculty Chairs and Subject Area Chairs.
  • Develop and refine high‑quality policies and processes that support faculty services.
  • Oversee the reporting cycle, ensuring accurate data informs decision‑making.
  • Contribute to cross‑school initiatives and continuous improvement across the department and subject areas.
  • Deliver projects on time, on budget and to quality standards.
  • Create accurate budgets with no overspend, demonstrating value for money.
  • Collaborate with Department and School leadership to maintain efficient faculty service.

Qualifications

  • Strong people‑management and team‑leadership experience.
  • Extensive experience within the higher‑education sector, ideally managing relationships with faculty and senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable credibility and a network of contacts in higher education.
  • Experience managing internal relationships at all levels.
  • Highly structured and organised with strong interpersonal skills and resilience.
  • Project or change‑management certification and proven ability to lead complex business change solutions.
  • Ability to scan the horizon, identify industry best practice and translate this into future planning.
  • Subject‑matter expertise in legislation, policies, tools or systems applicable to the role.
