London Bridge Rooftop is a 240-capacity outdoor bar across from The Shard, with top-notch views of London, cocktails, pints and amazing food. We love our customers and like to make them feel at home. We’re looking for an outgoing, confident and lively Assistant Manager to come and join our fun and friendly family, helping us deliver smooth service, a happy team and a brilliant guest experience.
The Role
As the Assistant Manager, you will be at the heart of our operation, running service, organising the team and taking responsibility for guest experience. Your role is pivotal in ensuring a smooth operation and a happy, well-supported team. You will liaise with the host and kitchen teams to make a plan for the day, analysing peak times and potential pinch points, and organising the bar, floor and barback teams accordingly. In collaboration with the rest of the management team, you will help drive the business forward through menu choices, streamlining service and keeping stock control consistent.
We’re seeking a candidate with strong English proficiency, both written and verbal, outstanding customer service and sales abilities, and a track record of effectively training and motivating teams to maintain high standards. Prior experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment and responsibility for large teams is vital. A vibrant personality, strong organisation and exceptional communication skills are also necessary. This position suits someone who is quick-thinking, operationally strong and passionate about leading by example, supporting the team and helping drive the business forward.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Run busy services confidently and keep the operation flowing smoothly.
- Organise the bar, floor and barback teams according to the needs of the day.
- Liaise with the host and kitchen teams to plan for bookings, peak times and potential pinch points.
- Monitor the venue throughout service and respond quickly to operational needs.
- Maintain high standards across service, cleanliness, presentation and guest experience.
- Lead by example during busy periods and support the team where needed.
Guest Experience
- Take responsibility for delivering a great guest experience throughout the venue.
- Maintain a positive, professional and welcoming attitude in all guest interactions.
- Address customer concerns and resolve issues effectively.
- Work with the team to create a fun, friendly and efficient atmosphere.
- Help ensure guests feel looked after from arrival through to departure.
Team Leadership
- Train, support and motivate the team to maintain high standards.
- Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Communicate clearly with the bar, floor, barback, host and kitchen teams.
- Help organise team roles and sections during service.
- Support team development and help create a happy, confident team culture.
Business and Stock Control
- Work with the management team to help drive the business forward.
- Support menu choices and service improvements.
- Help streamline service and improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain consistent stock control and support ordering processes where required.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales, improve service and maximise guest satisfaction.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Assistant Manager, Supervisor or similar role in a busy hospitality venue.
- Experience managing or supporting large teams.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent customer service and sales abilities.
- Confident, attentive, friendly and well presented.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to monitor the whole venue.
- Ability to think on your feet, adapt and solve problems quickly.
- Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Track record of training, motivating and supporting teams.
- Strong team player with a hands-on approach.
- Availability to work shifts as needed.
- A welcoming, friendly demeanour, even on a hectic day.
