Location: The Portland Hospital for Women & Children

Hours: Part-time 28.75 hrs pw - 10 shifts per month (long day & weekend shifts). The Urgent Care is open 8am-8pm, 7 days a week.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Paediatric Senior Staff Nurse to join our Paediatric Urgent Care Centre at The Portland Hospital for Women & Children currently rated “Good” by the CQC.

As a Senior Staff Nurse working within the Urgent Care Centre, you will provide autonomous clinical leadership and organisation to ensure the provision of high-quality care to children and families. You will take charge of shifts, managing patient flow safely and efficiently while communicating effectively with families both in person and over the telephone. You will act as an advocate for children and their families, ensuring they receive appropriate information, support, and safeguarding through close liaison with multidisciplinary teams. Working collaboratively across HCA services, you will help navigate patient care to deliver the highest standards, while also contributing to clinical audits and supporting the development and review of policies to maintain excellent clinical governance.

What you'll bring:

  • NMC Child Registered Nurse (RN Child / RSCN) with immediate paediatric life support.
  • Safeguarding Level 3 training.
  • Demonstrable experience working within a paediatric A&E or UCC setting, performing minor procedures such as plastering, wound care and performing ECGs.
  • Excellent knowledge of clinical governance and experience with audits.
  • Experience of shift leading & co-ordination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
