Advanced Speech and Language Therapist – Inpatient and Outpatient
London, The Portland Hospital
Part Time – 28 hours per week
We’re looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our Speech and Language Therapy team at The Portland Hospital, currently rated “Good” by the CQC and home to the largest private hospital-based rehabilitation centre in the UK.
Our specialist paediatric, maternity and women\’s health units are staffed by experienced consultants and nursing staff, all of whom have access to advanced medical technology and help ensure a positive patient experience for those who visit us.
We are looking for therapists with experience in an acute hospital setting and/or outpatient setting, and has experience working with patients with complex needs. This post will require flexibility to work across the hospital setting and support both our inpatient and outpatient service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist communication assessment and intervention with infants, children and young person’s presenting with a wide range of underlying diagnosis including neurodevelopmental, neurological, respiratory, cardiac, and genetic conditions.
- Assess and provide intervention to infants, children and young persons with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties.
- Develop goal directed care plans using evidence-based practice and specialist knowledge, in collaboration with patients’ and their families.
- Use excellent communication skills and effective partnership working within the multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate the ability to reflect on own performance and a commitment to continuous professional development.
- Adopt a flexible and dynamic approach to patient care that supports the team to provide high quality service across all hospital programs.

What you will bring:
- Professional qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
- Registered member of HCPC
- At least 3 years of experience working within a paediatric hospital and/or paediatric outpatient setting.
- Experience of MDT working
- Ideally experience of working with bilingual families and with interpreters
