Responsibilities include developing and delivering specialist investigative support and advice for Regulatory Services in the fields of housing standards, investigations into housing disrepair and non-compliance with legislation within Parts 1-4 Housing Act 2004, including all enforcement work required. Duties will be undertaken during standard office hours and outside standard office hours according to the needs of the service to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and policies.

Support wider workstreams within regulatory services as appropriate, be competent in Environmental Health assessments/enforcement actions, and manage escalated or complex customer issues within the relevant area. Lead on the development, implementation, maintenance, and management of systems, policies, procedures, and/or standards within the area of responsibility. Prepare and present a full range of reports (both standard and non-standard) covering the area of responsibility.

Work closely with others to support/manage the development and delivery of improvements in processes and procedures. Manage a portfolio of projects and reviews, leading on specific projects as required. Provide authoritative advice, guidance, and support to colleagues, customers, and stakeholders. Respond to and investigate enquiries and escalated complaints, undertaking/supporting consultation procedures. Identify issues, resolve as appropriate, and escalate complex problems if necessary. Collate processes and analyse complex information. Ensure all required records and information are maintained correctly.

Lead projects or improvement programmes, or contribute to the delivery of larger projects. Develop good working relationships and communicate effectively with internal/external organisations/partners and stakeholders. Represent the specialist area internally and/or externally. Model, demonstrate, and promote good practice relevant to the role. Provide expert advice and guidance.

Qualifications: Applicants must hold a degree or diploma in Environmental Health (e.g. BSc/MSc) and be fully registered with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) as a Registered EHP (REnvH) or equivalent. Candidates approaching full qualification and registration will also be considered, with appointment subject to achieving full EHRB/REnvH qualification within an agreed timescale. Additional specialist qualifications to postgraduate level relevant to the post and/or Chartered status are required. Relevant competencies and moderate experience post EHRB/REnvH registration, with demonstrable current experience of housing standards and enforcement, are essential.
