Overview

As the Lead Mechanical Project Engineer, you will provide and deliver high-quality, cost-effective mechanical engineering services to meet the needs of various client groups, projects, and the residents of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Your responsibilities include managing mechanical and electrical engineers, ensuring the efficient maintenance and improvement of properties, and leading mechanical aspect planning for allocated projects. You will also advise on environmental impacts, maintain compliance with statutory requirements, and support the development and implementation of maintenance programs. Engaging with a range of stakeholders, you will provide expert mechanical engineering advice and manage contractors and budgets to ensure successful project outcomes.

You are an accomplished mechanical engineer with a degree in mechanical engineering and extensive experience in construction management or building services. You possess a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including heating, cooling systems, ventilation, Lifts, and Legionella control. You are a collaborative leader capable of managing multiple roles simultaneously, taking ownership of mechanical and electrical projects, and delivering top-notch engineering services. Exceptional communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to sustainability and innovation are essential attributes defining you.

  • Sound knowledge of mechanical engineering for various building types
  • Proficient in contract administration and project management
  • IT literate, with skills in MS Word, Excel, and Hevacomp
  • Strong understanding of building regulations and statutory requirements
  • Collaborative leadership and team-building abilities
  • Effective communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proven expertise in procurement and managing mechanical projects
  • Ability to manage budgets and deliver within financial constraints
  • Experience in public sector roles is desirable
  • Ability to work flexibly, including on-call responsibilities
