Kingston is a beautiful Royal borough with a historic setting on the banks of the Thames with excellent schools and a bustling retail centre, all surrounded by open green spaces such as Richmond Park and Bushey Park, former recreation grounds for Tudor Kings and Queens. About the Role and our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Lead Officer to shape and manage the team of caseworkers and surveyors. This is an opportunity to influence how funding, information and advice can be used to improve residents’ lives and regenerate urban areas. You will be innovative in providing HIA services, while forming strong public health and health service links to provide a holistic approach to assist our most vulnerable residents. As an operational manager with recent experience of administering disabled facilities grants or housing renewal grants, or surveying you will thrive on creativity and seek new ways to deliver grants and other financial assistance, linking into the wider public health agenda of preventative health care.

You will need to be organised and flexible, providing a strong lead for the team as we find new ways of delivering outcomes for our residents. Experience of partnership working and/or contract management would be desirable.

The Royal Borough of Kingston and London Borough of Sutton are key partners and have adopted an approach based on strategic collaboration. This has already resulted in a number of shared services. The Shared Service does not operate from one location and you will be expected to work across both boroughs.

About Us

The Royal Borough of Kingston-Upon-Thames and the London Borough of Sutton have successfully provided a Shared Environment Service since 2016. Part of this strategic collaboration is the joint Home Improvement Agency providing disabled adaptations and housing renewal services across both boroughs. With a shared budget of over £2 million we are looking for a Lead Officer to manage the team. The team provides information, advice and support services to older and disabled residents who wish to adapt, repair or maintain their existing home or consider alternative housing options.
