About the Role and Our Ideal Candidate
As a frontline professional, you will deliver a modern, flexible housing and homelessness service, carrying out statutory housing and homelessness assessments and decision‑making with a focus on preventing homelessness.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing and deciding on applications under the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Providing advice and support to households to prevent or reduce homelessness.
- Collaborating with the Housing Solutions Team to secure alternative accommodation when necessary.
- Maintaining accurate records of assessments, decisions and progress following statutory guidance.
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
- Knowledge of housing legislation (Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017).
- Understanding of the importance and complexities of homelessness prevention.
- Ability to assess and interpret statutory duties and complex case situations.
- Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
- Experience in working with vulnerable populations (welcome but not essential).
