We are seeking an experienced and proactive Brokerage Team Leader to join the Operational Commissioning Brokerage Team. This front‑line service delivery role is responsible for ensuring residents with support needs and carers receive the highest quality care and support arrangements, and for delivering outcomes for our customers and ensuring best value for the Council.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Undertake day‑to‑day supervision, planning and organisation of a small team; motivate and support staff, conduct regular one‑to‑one meetings and annual appraisals; deputise for the Service Manager when required.
- Service & Caseload Management: Manage a personal caseload and deliver service activities within agreed standards; identify and secure appropriate placements and support services, utilising tools such as CareCubed where appropriate.
- Negotiation & Commissioning: Regularly negotiate all aspects of service arrangements, including fees and start dates for home care, placements, day support and transport; ensure services are commissioned or brokered within agreed budgets and obtain the best value for the Council.
- Compliance & Improvement: Oversee and ensure compliance with commercial frameworks or block contracts; keep up to date with changes in policy, legislation and contractual requirements; identify improvements in your work area to enhance service delivery.
- Crisis Management: Identify and respond to urgent or critical situations, liaising with professionals, providers and relevant teams to ensure a timely and coordinated approach.
Qualifications
- Experience: Demonstrated experience providing high‑quality services to residents with care and support needs and their carers.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of the legal, political, operational and commercial aspects of brokerage; commitment to continually updating knowledge of health and social care policies and legislation.
- Skills: Leadership, communication, negotiation, financial appreciation and problem‑solving.
