About The Role And Our Ideal Candidate

Do you have the potential to make a visible difference to the lives of children and their families to help us meet care and support needs across our borough as a Newly Qualified Social Worker (ASYE) at the London Borough of Sutton? We are looking to recruit our next cohort of Newly Qualified Social Workers to start their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). If you are a motivated and committed individual with the passion and enthusiasm to embark on the challenge of working within a local authority, then we want to hear from you.

Salary - £42,060 – £50,085 (unconsolidated maximum) per annum (grade 8). Full‑time: 36 hours per week. We expect you to be in attendance at the office every day for at least the first 3 months.

Eligibility and Qualifications

You are eligible to apply for this if: you have recently and successfully completed your social work training; you qualified within the last 3 years (no earlier than September 2023); or you are currently in the process of completing your social work qualification (graduating with your SW England number by September 2026). Applicants who qualified longer than 3 years ago will not be accepted.

ASYE Programme Overview

The ASYE programme is delivered within a social work academy framework and is designed to give Newly Qualified Social Workers the maximum opportunity to develop their practice and knowledge based on the Knowledge and Skills Statement for Child and Family Practitioners. You will receive a comprehensive induction, regular supervision, protected study time to complete a portfolio of evidence which includes self‑assessments, direct observations, critical reflection logs, and learning objectives. You will participate in action‑learning sets, and a wide range of training and other learning opportunities to develop your knowledge, understanding, skills and confidence to take on more complex cases. You will be supported by experienced ASYE assessors who are qualified practice educators. The programme offers a protected caseload, regular individual and group reflective supervision, and a high‑quality learning and development program.
