Salary: £46,206 – £55,992 per annum (PO4). Employment: Permanent, Full time, 36‑hour week (including occasional pay‑enhanced weekend work). Location: Civic Centre, Twickenham – Richmond & Wandsworth Adult Social Care & Public Health Department.

About The Role

This secondment offers experienced Social Workers a chance to progress within senior roles, working alongside Health colleagues to support safe and timely discharge of residents from multiple hospital sites. The senior team is high‑performing, dedicated to integrated work and the delivery of person‑centred, cost‑effective care. The role includes leading, supervising and developing the team while maintaining professional standards and embedding Adult Social Care values.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional leadership, including supervision of practitioners, allocation of work, duty and referral triage, and deputising for the Assistant Service Manager.
  • Maintain oversight of safeguarding concerns, the Care Act, Mental Capacity Assessments and related legislation, whilst applying Social Work England requirements.
  • Authorise support plans and funding, ensuring robust budget scrutiny and value for money.
  • Quality‑assure practice through case audits, safeguarding review oversight and continuous improvement of service delivery.
  • Work in partnership with health and community colleagues to support timely hospital discharge and overall service development.
  • Lead and contribute to projects and professional development initiatives, promoting best practice across the team.
  • Manage duty, formal supervision, coordination of referrals, clear decision making, budget management and attend hospital discharge planning meetings.
  • Act as a safeguarding adults manager (SAM) or be willing to train for the role.
