Job Introduction

This role requires the candidate to work from various locations across Richmond and Wandsworth depending on business need. This role also requires you to be part of a call out rota and work unsocial hours at times to support committee meetings.

Are you looking for a varied electrical role where your work has a direct impact on the safety and experience of thousands of building users? In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining and improving a diverse corporate building portfolio of around 300 properties across Richmond and Wandsworth. You will contribute directly to creating safe, compliant and well-functioning environments for staff, service users and visitors. Your work enables our Corporate Facilities Management (FM) service to deliver reliable, high-quality operations that support the day-to-day running of council services.

Our FM service covers a wide range of essential activities, including:

  • Reactive and planned maintenance (including statutory compliance)
  • Small works and project delivery
  • Cleaning, postal and print services
  • Energy management and decarbonisation
  • Halls and events management

As an Electrician within this team, your work will ensure our buildings meet required standards, remain safe, and operate efficiently.

What You Will Be Responsible For

You will use your technical expertise to support the safe and continuous operation of electrical systems across the corporate estate. Your role will include:

  • Installing, inspecting and maintaining electrical wiring and equipment across council buildings
  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults in systems and machinery
  • Ensuring all work complies with wiring and health & safety regulations
  • Testing electrical systems using appropriate tools and equipment
  • Responding promptly to emergency breakdowns and service requests
  • Supporting and maintaining AV / webcasting equipment for Council Committee meetings
  • Keeping accurate records of work completed and materials used
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and the wider FM team

  • Experience working with Audio Visual technology
