Are you passionate about reducing crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour?Do you have initiative and innovative ideas to support Community Safety?We are seeking a Community Safety Support Officer to support Richmond and Wandsworth Councils to deliver, co-ordinated community safety approach to the Alton Estate. This post is a two-year fixed term contract working in the Safer and Stronger Communities Team. You will work with the area’s Community Safety Officer to provide a joined-up approach both before, during, and after, the regeneration programme. The Community Safety Officer role is non-uniformed and predominantly non-enforcement as it is a strategic and partnership role.Key areas of our community we aim to support include: Serious Violence, Offender Management, Anti-Social Behaviour, Neighbourhoods, Domestic Abuse, Prevent and Radicalisation and Hate Crime. About the roleSeek to respond to crime and anti-social behaviour, working within the Neighbourhoods and Criminal Justice theme to support the wider place shaping work around the Alton Estate regeneration scheme. Co-ordinating, and supporting projects. You need to be able to work well under pressure, prioritise your own workload. Communicate openly and honestly with your colleagues and your manager regarding capacity so that you are adequately supported to perform your role.Lead on the coordination of multi-agency problem solving which will involve bringing key partners together through a meeting and agreeing a joint action plan. You will need to have effective problem-solving skills and the ability to produce timely briefings/reports on key initiatives and their outcomes.You will be part of a team of Community Safety Officer’s across Richmond and Wandsworth and may be asked to support other areas based on the demands of the service. Essential Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceWe are looking for someone who is hard-working and has some experience in community safety. Knowledge of contextual safeguarding or a trauma informed approach would be useful. Ensuring you familiarise yourself with the councils’ policies as well as key legislation is fundamental to the role. In particular you must have a working knowledge of the ASB, Police and Crime Act 2014.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and an ability to respond appropriately to the audience as you will be in contact with lead members (councillors), residents and senior officers. An understanding of multi-agency problem solving is essential along with knowledge of how key agencies work to make communities safer.Knowledge of the ECINS platform is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.You will be part of a team of Community Safety Officer’s across Richmond and Wandsworth and may be asked to support these other areas based on the demands of the service. The standard working week for this job is a 36-hour working week (Full Time) but we are open to discussing alternative working patterns. The postholder will be required to spend time each week on site, as well as attending the office.
