Are you an aspiring or qualified Habilitation Specialist willing to undertake training? The Wandsworth Sensory Support Team supports children and young people with sensory impairment based in Wandsworth. As a Trainee / Qualified Habilitation Specialist, you will be part of a team of professionals offering direct support to children and young people with sensory impairment. The team provides extensive school and home visiting services, emotional support, parent guidance, after school clubs, holiday play schemes, and parent education programmes. About the role
In this role, you can be either a Qualified Habilitation Specialist or a Trainee undertaking the specialist qualification in Habilitation and Disabilities of Sight Graduate Diploma. You will have the opportunity to grow your skills and expertise while supporting the Wandsworth Sensory Support Team to maximize children and young people's potential for independence.

- Flexibility: The support you provide includes visiting children and young people in their school or home environment as well as routes in between school, home, or other areas.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- You have proven experience as a Habilitation Specialist OR are willing to undertake the specialist training for which you will need to have qualifications and/or experience suitable for entry to the Habilitation and Disabilities of Sight (CYP) Graduate Diploma (UCL).
- Good understanding of the required quality standards for Habilitation.
- Ability to organise and manage a caseload with minimal supervision and the ability to work on your own initiative and make decisions.
- Advocate on behalf of individuals and have an understanding of the needs of vulnerable people.
- Attention to detail, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with children, young people, their families, and professionals.
- Experience working with children with vision impairment (highly desirable).
