Are you an experienced Team Manager who is passionate about achieving the best possible outcomes for Care Experienced young people? Future First, the Leaving Care Service for Wandsworth Children’s Social Care supports over 440 young people aged 16-25 who are in the care of Wandsworth Borough Council. As part of a dedicated, vibrant and enthusiastic team of 36 professionals, your role will be to provide leadership and management to your team, inspiring them to help young people build stable and successful independent lives.

About the role

As a Team Manager in this demanding but incredibly rewarding role, you will manage 5 Personal Advisors and you will also be linked to an area of specialism within the service and ensure that practice with Care Experienced young people is the best it can be. Currently, the areas we have are Parenting Support, Mental Health and UASC specialisms across the teams. Your focus will be ensuring that the support provided by your Team meets all the statutory obligations for Care Experienced young people and that our aspirational local offer and our focus on relational practice is reflected in all the work done by your supervisees. You will encourage your staff to access training which enhances and scaffolds their practice, and you will monitor daily data sets to ensure that we are meeting all of our KPIs. You will be motivated to help us consistently develop and increase our offer to Care Experienced young people and enjoy spending time with young people to get feedback on how they are experiencing our support.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England and successful completion of your ASYE.
  • Significant Team Manager experience with specialist experience in working within services supporting Care Experienced young people.
  • An experienced problem solver, with attention to detail and a passion for improving outcomes for young people.
  • Previous experience of working within services for Looked After and Care Experienced young people with the ability to utilise this experience to support practice within your Team.
  • Awareness of the principles of Systemic Social Work and be motivated to develop those skills and promote with supervisees the importance and value of relational practice.
