Join a creative, friendly and supportive multidisciplinary service delivering high-quality, values-driven psychology for children and young people in Wandsworth!
The Schools and Community Psychology Service (SCPS) brings together psychologists, trainee psychologists, systemic family therapists and clinical practitioners. As part of Wandsworth Council, we work with schools, families, communities, partner services and universities to improve educational, social and mental health outcomes. Our multidisciplinary work includes developing earlier access to specialist expertise through Wandsworth’s Experts at Hand approach.
Our Offer
- A balanced workload across commissioned, statutory and project work, with no EHC needs assessment backlog.
- Regular individual, peer and group supervision, including reflective teams and coaching.
- Protected CPD and opportunities to develop specialist interests beyond school-based work.
- A collaborative, well-regarded service whose psychological voice informs wider Children’s Services strategy.
About the Role
Your role will combine commissioned work with schools, statutory duties and inclusion projects. You will also contribute to the development and delivery of our Experts at Hand offer, working alongside speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, specialist teachers and other colleagues to strengthen ordinarily available provision and help mainstream settings access our expertise earlier.
You will be a collaborative and proactive practitioner who works sensitively with children and young people, families and schools, applying psychology systemically through consultation, coaching, modelling and training to promote inclusion, build capacity and support sustainable change.
Our Priorities
- Impactful Psychology in Context - evidence-based, culturally responsive practice with visible impact.
- Practising with Purpose - anti-racist, anti-discriminatory and participatory practice that strengthens inclusion and belonging.
- Individual Growth towards a Shared Goal - reflective learning, professional development and collective expertise.
- Proactive and Responsive Practice - prevention, early intervention and psychologically informed, needs-led support, including through Experts at Hand.
- Thriving Together - psychological safety, connection, wellbeing and sustainable practice.
- Reach and Recognition - strong partnerships, strategic influence and a visible contribution locally and nationally.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- We welcome applications from HCPC-registered Educational Psychologists and Year 3 trainee EPs who expect to qualify in September 2027 and be eligible for HCPC registration by the post’s start date.
- Creative, psychologically informed thinking and a commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Excellent communication and consultation skills.
- Experience of working with children and young people, parents and carers, including in relation to emotional wellbeing and mental health.
- Experience of delivering relevant psychological interventions, such as CBT, systemic approaches or group work.
