An excellent opportunity has arisen within the London Borough of Redbridge for an Adults Litigation Lawyer to join the Council to provide a comprehensive and professional legal service. You will report to the Principal Lawyer – Social Care within the Legal Department. You will also work closely with other Council departmental clients and specialist departments. As an in-house social care lawyer, you will have the opportunity to deal with an interesting workload and advise senior clients.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct of a full caseload of adults and community care/Care Act 2014 matters including Court of Protection and Mental Health Act.
- Giving advice on DOLS application.
- Defending judicial review challenges including adults, age assessment and s.17/20 Children Act challenges and leaving care.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Hold a Solicitor, Barrister, FILEX or similar qualification.
- Have extensive knowledge and experience of adult social care legislation and practice.
- Good knowledge of local government and public sector law affecting social care and health.
- Experience of working in a busy local authority setting.
