The Housing Solutions Service offers an opportunity to join a frontline team focused on preventing and relieving homelessness within the borough. The role is fast‑paced and requires thinking on your feet, delivering innovative solutions, and supporting residents to resolve their housing situation using a varied housing solutions toolkit.

The Housing Solutions Officer’s key responsibility is to prevent homelessness by helping customers retain their current accommodation. Where this cannot be achieved, the Officer will provide access to suitable alternative housing options, fulfilling the Council’s statutory obligations under the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

  • Experience issuing s184 and personal housing plans.
  • Strong collaboration, communication and written skills, with high emotional intelligence to support vulnerable residents.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Experience working in a demanding environment, able to think on your feet while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Negotiating, influencing and problem‑solving skills to achieve positive outcomes for customers.
  • Track record of meeting performance targets and adhering to deadlines.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in legislation and case law.
