Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced ELT Support Manager to provide strategic, executive and operational support to the Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team. Reporting to the Head of Leadership Support, this role sits at the centre of the Chief Executive’s Department and ensures the smooth and effective running of senior leadership activity across the organisation. You will lead and manage the Executive Assistants for the ELT, ensuring they are supported, developed and equipped to deliver high‑quality executive assistance to senior officers. Alongside this, you will coordinate forward plans and key meetings, oversee briefings and policy support, manage essential business processes, and contribute to clear, timely and well‑informed decision‑making. Working closely with senior officers, Members and external partners, you will anticipate priorities, navigate sensitive issues and help deliver high‑quality outcomes in a fast‑paced, politically aware environment.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience supporting senior leaders, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the confidence to lead staff and balance competing demands. You will work with discretion, build positive relationships at all levels, and maintain a calm, solutions‑focused approach. With a commitment to collaboration, excellence and continuous improvement, you will embed modern, efficient working practices and play an essential role in enabling the Chief Executive and ELT to deliver their strategic priorities. Flexibility to adapt at pace and support occasional out‑of‑hours commitments is required, and as a politically restricted post, the highest standards of conduct are expected.
