Maternity Cover (Fixed Term up to 29 May 2026)- Full Time
The Early Years and Childcare Improvement Team (EYCIT) are looking to appoint a passionate individual with experience of developing practice within the Early Years. The successful candidate will work alongside colleagues in supporting early years settings within the borough to deliver high-quality provision and ensure all children can achieve their full potential.
An Early Years Improvement Officer provides advice, training, challenge and support to Registered Providers, Leaders, Managers and Practitioners working within Private, Voluntary and Independent settings such as day nurseries, pre-schools, out of school provision and childminders. Whilst the role involves supporting the development of provision and practice relating to the requirements of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, a particular emphasis for this role is on the Safeguarding and Welfare requirements.
The developing of safeguarding practices is a fundamental part of the Early Years Improvement Officer&s role and we are therefore looking for an individual with in-depth knowledge and understanding of safeguarding. The Early Years Improvement Officer will work collaboratively with internal and external contacts to enhance training and support materials used to ensure Leaders, Managers and Practitioners within all Early Years Settings have up to date knowledge, policies and procedures in place to safeguard children. Providers contact the Early Years Improvement Officer for support on how to manage safeguarding and welfare concerns as they arise and so it is essential they can apply their safeguarding knowledge to different scenarios and know which other services to signpost to when required.
