Adult Litigation Lawyer | London Borough of Redbridge

An opportunity has arisen for an Adult Litigation Lawyer to join the established Legal team at the London Borough of Redbridge.

This is a role for a lawyer who wants to work on high-quality, complex adult social care matters within an experienced team, with the opportunity to advise senior clients and have a genuine impact on the work of the Council.

You will report to the Principal Lawyer for Social Care and handle a varied caseload covering areas including:

  • Adult Social Care matters under the Care Act 2014
  • Court of Protection work
  • Mental Health Act matters
  • Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) applications
  • Judicial review challenges
  • Providing clear, practical legal advice to senior officers and departmental clients

About you

The Council is open to lawyers from a range of backgrounds. You may already be working within a local authority, or you could be coming from private practice with strong experience in adult social care, community care, Court of Protection or related public law work. You will need:

  • A relevant professional qualification, such as Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX
  • Strong knowledge and experience of adult social care legislation and practice
  • Good understanding of local government and public sector law affecting social care
  • Experience handling a complex caseload and providing high-quality legal advice

The quality and relevance of your experience is more important than a particular number of years qualified.

Why Redbridge?
