Support Assistant – Autism Specialist Community Opportunities Day Services

£30,288 - £31,611 per annum

Working Pattern: 36 hours per week – Permanent position

Responsibilities

  • Support adults with severe autism, learning disabilities, behaviours that may challenge, sensory needs, and communication difficulties.
  • Provide highly individualised support tailored to each person’s assessed needs, communication style, sensory profile and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans.
  • Implement 2:1, 1:1 staffing and shared support arrangements to ensure residents receive safe, consistent, and meaningful care.
  • Plan, deliver and adapt a wide range of structured community and building‑based activities such as swimming, walking groups, music sessions, sensory activities, yoga, cycling and therapeutic engagement to promote emotional well‑being, communication, independence, life skills and social inclusion.
  • Support residents within the service and in the wider community, including visits to parks, museums, leisure centres and other places of interest while promoting safety, dignity, communication and independence.
  • Work closely with families, professionals and multidisciplinary teams to ensure residents receive consistent and high‑quality support.

Qualifications

  • Experience or understanding of autism, sensory needs, communication support and Positive Behaviour Support approaches.
