We are currently recruiting for newly qualified social workers who will be able to commence work in August 2025. This means you must have graduated and be registered with Social Work England before the first week of August to apply. The Newham ASYE programme is a comprehensive introduction to the profession for NQSWs, with dedicated training, on-the-job targeted learning, and reflective space. Participants will be supported by their line-manager and dedicated ASYE assessor, as well as the Workforce and Practice Development Team. Our emphasis is on learning and reflection so that NQSWs finish their ASYE experienced and confident in their role and their identity as a social worker. In Newham, the ASYE is the first step along a career progression pathway with routes to management, and development of your practice including opportunities to train as a Practice Educator to support the social work practitioners of the future. You will need to be registered with Social Work England prior to your start date of August 2024. You must be able to legally work in the UK for at least the 12 months following the start of the programme – we are not able to assist with sponsorship or visas. Please apply online. About Us The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east. It is well connected by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. It has a thriving arts quarter with the Theatre Royal Stratford East offering excellent entertainment for all the family.
