The Private Sector Housing Standards team is looking for a Senior Private Sector Housing Officer to work within private sector housing.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out high-standard regulatory work within the Private Rented Sector, protecting tenants and ensuring a fairer market.
- Conduct inspections of unlicensed properties, licence condition checks, and disrepair assessments.
- Compile evidence and present cases to court and the First Tier Tribunal.
- Support and assist colleagues in resolving complex housing cases.
- Manage own caseload and make confident decisions with a problem-solving attitude.
- Supervise people and projects; lead delivery of multi-agency operations.
- Work collaboratively with external and internal partners.
Qualifications & Experience
- Expert knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and related housing legislation.
- Significant practical experience of serving and enforcing housing regulations.
- Competency in using the HHSRS rating system.
- Experience in carrying out housing inspections for disrepair and property licensing issues.
- Knowledge of compiling evidence and taking cases to court and the First Tier Tribunal.
- Excellent communication skills, able to motivate colleagues and improve team working.
- Flexible and independent, able to work both as part of a team and on own initiative.
