The Safeguarding Adults and Independent Living Team is looking to appoint a highly motivated Practice Manager to provide management support and direction to a small team of social workers. The role will have primary responsibility for adult social care operational safeguarding at Newham’s front‑door safeguarding triaging service. The opportunity allows you to advance your career, acquire new skills and deliver strength‑based, person‑centred safeguarding practice within an inclusive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a small team of social workers in partnership with another Practice Manager.
  • Ensure high‑quality, timely triaging and screening of safeguarding concerns.
  • Act as Safeguarding Adults Manager (SAM) for selected safeguarding enquiries and provide high‑quality strength‑based supervision.
  • Carry out and complete high‑quality audits and maintain up‑to‑date, accurate data sets.
  • Work closely with adult social care operations teams and with other local safeguarding stakeholders such as East London Foundation Trust, Barts Health, Police, London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service and Newham’s Children and Younger Person Services.
  • Apply strong interpersonal, empathetic and forward‑thinking skills to support well‑being of individuals and communities, particularly adults with neuro‑developmental diagnoses, rough sleepers and those with substance use or complex mental health issues.
  • Understand domestic abuse issues and those with no recourse to public funds; be familiar with local safeguarding multi‑agency risk forums e.g., MAPPA and MARAC.

Qualifications

You must be a qualified social worker and possess a good understanding of safeguarding practices.
