Overview
In this role you drive cost management and commercial success across a diverse portfolio of public sector capital projects and maintenance works. You will collaborate closely with project teams, consultants, and senior stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. You’ll shape procurement, contract administration, and financial reporting while mentoring junior staff. This is a chance to impact local communities through well-managed, value-for-money schemes.

Responsibilities
- Provide professional quantity surveying services across a wide-ranging property portfolio
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, cash flow forecasts and financial reports
- Lead procurement exercises and tender evaluations
- Administer contracts including JCT and NEC forms of contract
- Assess valuations, variations, claims and final accounts
- Monitor project expenditure and report on financial performance
- Identify and manage commercial risks
- Provide strategic cost advice to project teams and senior management
- Support the delivery of capital investment, compliance and maintenance programmes
- Mentor and support junior surveyors and project staff where required
Key requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
- MRICS qualified or working towards chartership
- Excellent IT skills
- Significant experience in cost management and contract administration
- Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
- Experience of procurement and tendering processes
- Excellent financial and commercial management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant cost management systems
