This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced and dynamic individual to work as a school admissions and appeals officer (primary and secondary) in Newham's Education Access Group. The role encompasses a wide range of statutory and non‐statutory duties, including presenting the authority's case at appeal hearings and working in close partnership with schools in relation to admissions and children missing education, to support families in accessing education for their children.

Key Responsibilities

  • All elements of normal and in‐year admissions
  • Delivering our borough‐wide co‐ordinated in‐year process
  • Support the delivery of school admissions appeals for maintained schools and academies
  • Professionally represent the local authority and the Education Access Group at school admission appeal hearings
  • Support the development and maintenance of our workflow and training documents directory
  • Track the admission of children from point of offer to admission
  • Provide advice to schools in relation to children missing education
  • Deliver clear and robust communications for key stakeholders
  • Build strong relationships with schools, senior officers within CYPS and key partners

This post is 36 hours per week full time, Monday to Friday. We operate hybrid working arrangements which include mandatory days at Newham Dockside, visiting schools across the borough and other venues both in and out of Newham.
