We are seeking an experienced, innovative and forward‐thinking individual to lead and expand our Computing curriculum, developing clear and aspirational progression pathways into employment, higher education and apprenticeships in the digital sector. This role will play a central part in responding to local and national digital skills priorities, supporting residents to access high‐quality learning that prepares them for work in an increasingly technology‐driven economy.

The Course Leader will be responsible for leading and developing Computing programmes up to Level 5, ensuring curriculum relevance in areas such as coding and programming, cybersecurity awareness, cloud technologies, digital communications and employability. Computing remains a strategic growth area for the service as we respond to increasing employer demand, workforce digitalisation and government priorities around technology and innovation. This role presents an exciting opportunity to shape provision that helps close the digital divide, improves residents' confidence with technology and equips learners with industry‐relevant technical skills, problem‐solving ability and supports progression into meaningful employment across digital, administrative, technical and IT support roles.

About You

  • Qualified teacher (DTLLS / PGCE / Cert Ed / Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training or equivalent) with substantial experience teaching Computing or Digital Skills and educated to degree level or above.
  • Strong vocational background within the digital or IT sector and excellent understanding of current digital skills priorities, emerging technologies, workforce needs and professional standards.
  • Passionate about learner success, commitment to placing learners at the centre of all we do, inspirational practitioner and effective leader able to motivate others and model outstanding teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Experience of leading teams, embedding digital learning technologies and promoting innovative and inclusive teaching practice.
  • Champion safeguarding, equality, diversity and digital inclusion.
  • Strong understanding of the Education Inspection Framework, internal quality assurance processes, compliance requirements and awarding body standards for accredited Computing and Digital Skills programmes.
