Head of Workforce Equality, Diversity and Inclusion SMRA £58,818 – £71,412 pa In this key role you will not only ensure that the Council is compliant in relation to its statutory EDI workforce obligation under the Equality Act 2010, including the Public Sector Equality Duty – that’s just the start. You will have the opportunity to devise and to drive forward proactive initiatives which demonstrate our real commitment to EDI. You will have a passion for making a positive difference across a diverse workforce, and will have the opportunity to demonstrate your experience, with the support and commitment of elected Members and senior leaders. You will develop and implement organisational EDI strategies, action plans and associated policies and guidance to ensure that the EDI agenda is taken forward positively and provide strategic advice and support to ensure positive workforce engagement across the Council, and to deliver co-ordinated initiatives and actions. To be successful in this role you must have: Significant knowledge of key issues and challenges relating to equity, diversity and inclusion, including a critical understanding of how to develop strategic interventions to reduce inequity Extensive knowledge of policy and strategy formulation and implementation Understanding and experience of methodologies and approaches in terms of engagement and participation with staff across a complex organisation Current knowledge and experience of EDI strategy and practice Knowledge of the EDI legislative framework and how it applies in practice across an organisation MCIPD, or equivalent experience Evidence of training in relevant EDI topics Experience of working with stakeholders to implement workforce EDI policies and practice Experience of governance, performance management and working with workforce metrics and data Experience of manipulating and interrogating data to support evidence based EDI practice and decision making Track record of developing and maintaining positive relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders across a complex organisation Experience of working with and advising senior officers and elected Members on EDI issues and priorities Closing date: 31st January 2025 @ 9am Additional Information We are committed to creating an inclusive, anti-racist environment for all.
