Early Years SEND Practitioner

£35,520 - £36,585 per annum. CNDS (Complex Needs and Dyslexia service) is part of the Newham Specialist Support Service (SESS). Our primary aims are early identification of children’s educational needs, offering educational strategies and support and working collaboratively with health and education partners.

We adopt the role of key worker, offering planned purposeful and focused targeted interventions, to allow consistency and a point of contact for families and professional partners. Our targeted SEND Early years support plans allow the service to monitor the impact of intervention and assess children’s learning through the Early years developmental journal and support applications for statutory assessments.

Following the retirement of a valued colleague, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Early Years Practitioner to join our team.

As a Key Worker, You Will:

• Hold a caseload of children with complex needs
• Develop high‑quality Early Years Support Plans
• Maintain detailed case logs and documentation
• Request statutory needs assessments where appropriate
• Work collaboratively within a multi‑disciplinary team around the family
• Lead targeted interventions within the CNDS Early Years team

You will have:

• NNEB diploma or equivalent in nursery nursing
• National Vocational Qualification in child care and educational Level III
• BTEC diploma in nursery nursing (2 years full time)
• BTEC certificate in nursery nursing (2 years full time)
• Other relevant qualification in child development and early years education i.e. Degree level

About Us: The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east. It is well connected by public transport with bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium.
